Scientific Webinar on Cystinosis Held with Participation of Leading Specialists

A scientific webinar focusing on Cystinosis, a rare inherited metabolic disorder, was held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 (15 Mordad 1405).

The webinar was organized with the participation of the Iranian Association of Rare Diseases, Recordati Rare Diseases, and Valeant Darou, and was CME accredited (ID: 255485).

The three-hour scientific program, held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, brought together specialists from different medical fields to discuss various aspects of cystinosis, including its diagnosis, management, and multisystem complications.

The distinguished speakers included:

• Dr. Mitra Basiratnia – Pediatric Nephrologist, Subspecialist
• Dr. Nakisa Hooman – Pediatric Nephrologist, Subspecialist
• Dr. Azita Tavasoli – Pediatric Neurologist, Subspecialist
• Dr. Mohsen Pourazizi – Ophthalmologist, Cornea and Anterior Segment Fellowship
• Dr. Davoud Amirkashani – Pediatric Endocrinologist, Subspecialist

The webinar provided an opportunity for healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge of cystinosis, with particular emphasis on its renal, neurological, ophthalmological, and endocrine manifestations and the importance of multidisciplinary care for affected patients.
