This department was started by Mrs. Dr. Khadija Mahluji in Ali Asghar Hospital (AS). The responsibility of this department was given to Dr. Alireza Natigian after his retirement in 2006, which continues until now. Dr. Shirin Sayahfar since 2007 and Dr. Behnam Taftovi since 2008 have been present in this department.
 
Dr. Samila Nurbakhsh and Dr. Fahima Ehsanipour at Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital and Dr. Zahra Sadr at Firozabadi Hospital are other professors of the Infectious Disease Department.
 
Since 2005, this group has been working on the training of infectious disease assistants, and the graduates of this field are engaged in the training of specialists and treating children's infectious problems in different cities of the country.
 
The Infectious Diseases Department has a Children's Infectious Diseases Research Center that conducts research in the field of children's infectious diseases in Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital.
